This CD contains a 189-page report describing the delineation of drinking water source protection zones for 13 public water-supply springs. These springs obtain water from unconsolidated alluvial-fan and lacustrine deposits, which form a shallow ground-water aquifer, an important source of water. Geological and hydrological principals were used to characterize the ground-water system and determine contributing areas for each spring. Drinking water source protection zones are areas within each springs contributing area likely to contribute water and potential contaminates to the springs in a given time period. These zones were delineated using methods that extended the zone boundaries the most conservative distance topographically upgradient of each spring, relative to the defined criteria for each particular zone.
