This geologic map of the eastern half of the Salina 30ʹ x 60ʹ quadrangle covers an area of scenic beauty and diverse geology, including much of the west limb of the San Rafael Swell uplift, one of the best-known geologic structures in Utah. A complete section of uppermost Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous, and lower Paleogene strata is well exposed in a westward sweep across the map area from the San Rafael Swell to eastern Wasatch and Fish Lake Plateaus. In addition, the map includes one of the best exposed late Tertiary igneous dike and sill swarms in the world. The southern part of the quadrangle includes the Last Chance Desert and the northernmost part of Capitol Reef National Park. This interim open-file report makes the map and GIS data available while geologic mapping of the west half of the quadrangle is in progress.
