The Thompson Point 7.5' quadrangle includes short segments of the Chocolate, Vermillion, and White Cliff steps of the Grand Staircase, which are incised by Kanab Creek tributaries along the west edge of the quadrangle and by Johnson Canyon and its tributaries along the east edge. Exposed strata range from the Triassic Shnabkaib Member of the Moenkopi Formation to the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone, but reddish-brown Jurassic strata in the middle of the section create the Vermillion Cliffs that dominate the area. Contains GIS files in ESRI file geodatabase and shapefile formats. Also included are two plates, both.
