This map is one of a series that depicts various aspects of the physical environment along the Wasatch Front from Tremonton and Logan on the north to Santaquin on the south. The map is a lithologic map compiled from a variety of sources, listed on Map 54A. The lithologies shown are grouped as metamorphic rocks, igneous intrusives, igneous extrusives, carbonate rocks (limestone and dolomite), coarse clastics, and fine clastics. Unconsolidated deposits (Quaternary and Late Tertiary) are shown in two categories: (1) sand and gravel, and (2) other deposits. Each group provides unique environments in which certain types of mineral deposits are favored.

A cursory examination of the map reveals the distribution and abundance of mineral resources of the central Wasatch Front. The mineral resources have been divided into three categories: metallic mineral resources, non-metallic mineral resources, and construction materials.
